Best Friends Forever by Margot Hunt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
My Synopsis:
Best Friends Forever by Margot Hunt is the story of two unlikely companions- Kat and Alice. Alice Campbell is a stay at home mom struggling to make ends meet. Kat Grant is a billzillionair who has a taste for the finer things in life like art and wine, but her marriage is on the rocks. They are each others escape from their problems as they meet for long lunches filled with gossip and wine; however, when Kat’s husband’s body is discovered after tumbling off their balcony, Alice becomes the prime suspect and cannot seem to get a hold of Kat. This story of lies, deceit, and betrayal will have readers struggling to figure out who done it.
My Reaction:
I only read a handful of suspense novels in a year; I much prefer historical fiction and young adult fantasy, but I am trying to broaden my exposure to genres so I gave Best Friends Forever a try mainly because of the gorgeous cover art. I was not disappointed. This is the kind of book that keeps readers up late at night quickly flipping pages under bed sheets,-flashlight in hand. I love to annotate while I read so I was highlighting and taking notes, trying to figure out who the killer was, but when I made it to the end I was so wrong! I am not even disappointed in my poor detective skills because all the puzzle pieces fit together at end to create the perfect picture of why the murderer made the choices he/she did.
My Recommendations:
I recommend this book to wine drinkers. As funny as that sounds, this is the kind of book to pair up with a glass of Moscato d’Asti (I would say Merlot, but i am not a red wine drinker). This would also be a great book for a woman’s book club because it will illit a lot of great discussions about marriage and different types of friendships.
I’ll be sure to have a glass of wine handy when I pick this one up!
Thanks for being a part of the tour.
